It is a well known fact today that in the life of the child there are several critical periods. At the age of six his body has grown to a certain perfection. When he is about nine, the emotions awaken in him. When he is thirteen years old, the intelligence begins to awaken and when he is about seventeen, the abstract thought comes in.
Now it seems to be very important that at the beginning of theses periods the child should get a certain help, a certain stimulating influence to guide him, and in these rituals also the need of the child at the different stages of his life have been taken into account.
So we have now four entirely different rituals, each adapted to the needs of the child at that special age, and in which most of the action is done by the child itself. Sometimes, in a way, the ritual should be a play to them, but a play that comes from the heart, a play with many beautiful toys, but with a deep background.
In this way the child, at a very early age, is taken up into a brotherhood, a companionship in which he can joyfully take part and at the same time finds a background full of deep significance and is educated to becomes a member of the great brotherhood of knights all over the world.
The admission of the Leading Knight was added later on and is meant only for those
who will lead a Table or when there are large groups some younger leading knights
might be helpful, giving the admissions.
