The equipment and the server of kingsgarden.org has survived another move. After some problems to find an adequate internet link in the very rural area of Renlies, it"s current location, the service has been revived after only a short interuption of 5 hours.
The antiquated Apple Macintosh G3 has finally given up. The magnetic layers pf its hard disk drives practically pealed off by years of 24/7 service. This vaillant server is now replaced by a more powerful G4 unit under OS 9.2
The move to a better system is underway. The hardware is an Apple Mini runing under OS X.3.9 for the transition period. It will the be upgraded to the lates version of the OX 10.8. The WEBSTAR software, in service since 1984 has reached its limits and will be replaced by the latest version of APACHE. The database server will continue to be FILEMAKER PRO, but version 7, in stead of version 3;
Some users have asked the reason for kingsgarden.org to remain faithful to the Macintosh Operating System: Since its first day on line, our server din't allow for one single virus to disrupt its operation, nor a single one to be distributed to our visitors.
